NJ PHYSICIANS understands that physicians cannot take on trial lawyers, managed care companies and others seeking to undermine our profession without the help of powerful organizations who share our common interests and concerns. By working with these organizations to further our common interests – rather than “going it alone” – we can succeed where others have failed.

To spearhead this effort, NJ PHYSICIANS has retained ROBERT CODEY, Esq. as Special Counsel to help develop a long-term strategic plan to meet our goals and objectives. He will work with community, labor, business and industry leaders to forge alliances necessary to improve patient care, increase access to medical treatment, eliminate costly and unnecessary waste and bureaucracy, and restore physicians to their rightful place in the healthcare system.

Mr. Codey’s experience includes serving in various governmental positions for thirty-four years, including as Deputy Attorney General for New Jersey for eighteen years and as the Prosecutor of Cape May County.

Jay Hedden, J.D. will serve as NJ PHYSICIANS' Executive Director and Lobbyist. Before accepting this assignment, Mr. Hedden was Director of Public Affairs for the Medical Society of New Jersey. Mr. Hedden has also held positions as Special Assistant to the President of UMDNJ, as well as the Executive Director of Boards and Councils at the NJ Department of Health and Human Services.

Leadership Council

Many hospital medical staff presidents and other highly recognized leaders throughout New Jersey's medical community have agreed to serve on NJ PHYSICIANS’ Leadership Council. This Leadership Council, working closely with the Advisory Council, will provide the direction necessary to establish policies and priorities which best serve the interests of New Jersey's physicians. NJ Physicians believes that doctors experienced in dealing with the day-to-day problems faced by physicians are best able to identify those problems and help find solutions.

The Leadership Council will be headed by Ronald Weinberg, M.D., the President of the Medical Staff at Monmouth Medical Center. Dr. Weinberg is also Chairman of the Board of Monmouth Healthcare, Inc. and a clinical instructor at Hanhnemann School of Medicine.

Advisory Council

NJ PHYSICIANS Advisory Council will include some of the state’s most influential leaders of business and industry, as well as representatives from major accounting firms, law firms and insurance companies that deal regularly with the physician community. Heading the Advisory Council is Robert Codey, Esq. who will also serve as Special Counsel to NJ PHYSICIANS.

Mr. Codey will lead an Advisory Council composed of a "Who's Who" of business, labor, community and political leaders to help form the coalitions and alliances necessary to improve physician directed healthcare in NJ. This extraordinary Council will develop mechanisms to eliminate unnecessary administrative and bureaucratic overhead and assure that physicians are properly recognized and compensated for providing high quality care.
