Managed Care Strategies

Managed care companies’ concern with managing their bottom lines can interfere with physicians’ sound medical judgments. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Policies that result in denial of physicians’ recommendations for care, diagnosis or treatment compromise patient health, cause serious injury and even death. As a top priority, NJ PHYSICIANS is committed to ending this abuse. NJ PHYSICIANS believes that public exposure of documented cases of patient injury resulting from interference with sound medical care will lead to an end to bureaucratic interference with good medical care.

Malpractice Insurance Premium Relief

Risk Prevention Programs will be offered in cooperation with the State’s major malpractice insurers. Successful completion of these programs could result in substantial reductions in Medical Liability Insurance Costs. We have already received a commitment from a major insurance company to provide a comprehensive toolkit provided to all members of NJ PHYSICIANS at no cost, as well as commitments from other companies to provide risk prevention programs and other assistance to all members of NJ PHYSICIANS without charge. The kit includes valuable tips for reducing risk, including sample consent forms and letters on how to deal with noncompliant patients.

Risk Purchasing Groups

New Jersey law allows the formation of risk purchasing groups to negotiate reduced premiums for malpractice insurance. NJ PHYSICIANS is developing strategies to create these groups for the benefit of its members.

Health Plans

QualCare is committed exclusively to the New Jersey marketplace and believes that medical care should be delivered as a local service. It offers one of the most expansive provider networks in New Jersey with 88 acute care hospitals and more than 19,000 physicians at more than 31,000 locations. Physicians, not lay people, make all the medical decisions for QualCare's clients. NJ PHYSICIANS will work to promote the QualCare model throughout New Jersey.
